Springfield is lucky enough to have a few bodies of water near by. (Lake Springfield and Sangamon River to name a couple)
In Illinois you are required to have a fishing license. A residential fishing license is about $20 (I'm rounding up for tax and convince fee purposes)
CWLP's website provides rules for fishing in the city limits. For example types of lines that can be used, what kind of fish are in the lake and so on.
But once all the legalities are in place, grab a pole, some bait, some mosquito repellent and have fun!
Small Group Friendly
Kid Friendly
Task: Try to catch a blue gill!
